12-Sided Quartz Crystal Healing Wand with Faceted Moldavite & Herkimer Diamond Accents

12-Sided Quartz Crystal Healing Wand with Faceted Moldavite & Herkimer Diamond Accents

$99 USD

In this piece I have set an approximately 1 carat Trillion (Triangle Cushion) cut Moldavite Facet from Czechoslovakia over the receiving end of a Titanium Quartz Crystal Wand.
Nestled within the sterling silver wire "prongs" that hold the faceted Moldavite, there are two, small AAA fine Herkimer D. quartz crystals just for extra zing & sparkle.

This Wand, and all of the Wands of this type I work with and use in my Jewelry, was cut by Ray Pinto, engineer & cutter for Marcel Vogel at PRI. I have a small write-up of my own regarding Marcel Vogel, his Crystal Wands, and Ray a little further down in this listing; but you can also read about these crystal Wands and Marcel in his own words in the 1986 interview "The Advocacy of Marcel Vogel", courtesy of Magical Blend magazine.

These creations of his are pretty well known & popular, so a number of people make these styles of faceted quartz, but many of them are “knock-offs”: Vogel was a scientist and very precise about how these were to be cut (length along the c-axis of the crystal for example) to work best. The lenses I use in my art are cut by Ray Pinto, engineer and one of the cutters Marcel employed at PRI, and are made with care, love and attention to the necessary specifications in order to be working tools.

Additionally, many people working with and promoting these tools claim to be the “only” persons making “real” ones, I do not make this claim (on Ray’s behalf), as I do not know other individuals' skill, intention, and history. I do however, know Ray’s precision engineering skills and history at PRI with Marcel; and his intention to continue to develop and create quality crystal healing tools comparable to “Vogel-Cut Crystals®” or any other brand or trademark sincere individuals have created to protect their work.
It is my intention to see that Ray is able to create as much of his art as possible, and that those whom are “into” such fine things are able to find this awesome art/engineering.

Something about Moldavite:

Moldavite is probably best described briefly as "glass created by meteorite impact". It is very popular and well known, rightfully so because it’s a lovely and rare stone, but there are a lot of misconceptions about it.
A lot of people will lead you to believe that Moldavite is from outer space, and this is not really the case. Moldavite may have been in outer space briefly, but only for as long as it took to fall back to the ground after the impact and most of the material present in the stone is of terrestrial origin.
Moldavite belongs to a class of stones called "tektites", which includes but is not limited to these stones created my impacts. There are other tektites from other places, but with the exception of a couple of small deposits of yellow tektites (Libya, and Georgia,USA), Moldavite is the only one suitable for cutting as the rest are very dark and appear black. In color Moldavite can range from pale to dark green , sometimes with a blue-ish tint.
This stone is only from Europe, it is named for the Moldau river valley where it is found. I don’t care what anyone says, "African moldavite" is not moldavite at all and is misleading. Frankly, at the international gem shows I attend, we dealers joke about that stuff ("African moldavite") still being shaped like the bottom of a Heineken bottle. I’m not saying that "African moldavite" is a synthetic and that it is being misrepresented because I couldn’t say for sure, but if I had to guess that’s what my guess would be. Regardless, it is obviously different stuff and calling it "moldavite" is only an attempt to attach onto the popularity of the real thing and dupe buyers looking for Moldavite who are not yet well informed. As a dealer, I don’t appreciate this because it is confusing and some buyers may wind up less than happy, turning them off to the market at large. I think the folks who sell "African moldavite" should come up with their own unique name for their material.

A little about these Healing Wands & their History:

Cut-quartz wands of this type are healing, energy moving tools originally designed and invented by Marcel Vogel. Marcel was Scientist, Inventor and Researcher who accumulated over 100 patents during his career at IBM, where he became a Vice-President of Research & Development before retiring. Among the technologies he developed are: Early Liquid Crystal Display screens; the use of sound to grow very large, perfect silicone crystals for cutting into computer chips (if you have ever seen the “Quartz Singing Bowls”, this was his invention and that was their original purpose); and a way around an “unsolvable” problem in cutting these chips that allowed us to reduce their size to about 1/20th of where they were. His creativity & technical prowess are more than a little well known in computer science circles (not to mention within “meta”physics circles, but most people in the world are familiar with and effected by Marcel Vogel’s work already, if they have used a computer or a television).
After an experience with a natural Quartz crystal, he became intrigued and turned his considerable skills toward exploring this medium. Eventually, he became so involved in “meta”physics that he retired to form his own company, Psychic Research Inc., who’s mission was to study and measure the energy & effect of Human love/attention: what he called "prana". These lenses are one of the products of that endeavor & were originally produced by PRI.

These creations of his are pretty well known & popular, so any number of people make these styles of faceted quartz, but many of them are “knock-offs”: Vogel was a scientist and very precise about how these were to be cut (length along the c-axis of crystal growth for example) to work best. The lenses I use in my art are cut by Ray Pinto, engineer and one of the cutters Marcel employed at PRI, and are made with care and love, as well as attention to the necessary specifications in order to be optimal tools.
Additionally, many people working with and promoting these tools claim to be the “only” persons making “real” ones, I do not know others' skill, intention, and history; so I do not make this claim [on Ray's behalf], notwithstanding his precision engineering skills and history at PRI with Marcel; and his intention to continue to develop and create quality crystal healing tools comparable to “Vogel-Cut Crystals®” or any other brand or trademark.
It is my intention to see that Ray is able to create as much of his art as possible, and that those whom are drawn to such fine things are able to find this awesome art/engineering.

Well that's my own small write-up regarding Ray, Marcel, and his Crystal Wands, you can read more about Marcel and his work in his own words in the 1986 interview "The Advocacy of Marcel Vogel", courtesy of Magical Blend magazine.

About Herkimer Diamonds:

Herkimer Diamonds are a unique, natural occurance of Quartz that come only from a small area around Little Falls, NY. Though there are quartz crystals roughly similar in appearance from several other locations throughout the world, they really never match the brightness and clarity of a true Herkimer Diamond. I often read pages that say "Herkimers have recently been found in Argentina …" or " This piece has a Herkimer Diamond from Mexico …"(or wherever else), these may be lovely quartz crystals from these other places, and though they may be similar: They are not Herkimer Diamonds. The closest crystals I have ever seen are from Argentina, but though they come close, they do not match the brightness or the clarity of Herkimer, NY. If it says Herkimer on any of my pages it means Herkimer from New York, ALWAYS. In fact, the band of crystal occurrence in New York is approximately 10 miles x 50 miles, and it is only one small "sweet spot" within this band that produces what can really be called a Herkimer Diamond, the surrounding area poduces crystals that are more properly called "Doubly terminated quartz" or something else. About 90% of the Herkimers I use in my work are mined from the "Ace of Diamonds" mine in Little Falls, NY, known far and wide for it's fine fine Herkimer Diamonds.

Herkimer energy is like that of clear quartz, easily programmable and attuned to your personal areas of conflict to clear blockages and reveal/facilitate new avenues of growth. Herkimers also intensify and clarify dreaming, with the effect of increasing your personal self-awareness when you are within a dream, as well as allowing you to bring more of your dream consciousness back into your waking reality.

About me & Pink & Green

Many of the pieces I make are Pink and/or Green, these colors both correspond to the Heart Chakra.

This is one thing I do deliberately,
though this only started after I noticed one day that 8 of the last 10 pieces I had made featured both Pink and Green.

I took a look at them and thought:
"wow, I guess there's something going on with this"
(but I knew what it was).

So I noticed,
and this particular thing became (somewhat) deliberate.

You see, most of the stuff I make really is intuitively inspired,
I wouldn't limit myself to only things I understand with a deliberate purpose,
I just make what I feel like or "get" and then observe the result.

You could say I let the materials speak to me.

I believe this openness makes my work much more on many levels that I could possibly create "on purpose",
though part of being open is learning from what I have done too.

This is how I work.

Even my style of wrapping,
the architectural elements of my wire work have developed in this way.

Not really knowing where I am going,
picking up the things I like on The Way.

Enjoy the Crystals ;-)
